River City Rising - 40 Years of Consolidation

River City Rising is an independent documentary production exploring the achievements and continued challenges resulting from the 1968 Consolidation of the City of Jacksonville and Duval County, Florida. The 60-minute program will air on WJCT-7, Jacksonville's PBS affiliate, and on its accompanying digital stations. The program also will be made available to PBS stations nationwide and DVD copies will be sent to all Jacksonville public high schools and public libraries, and all Florida public colleges and universities.

The aim of River City Rising is to examine Jacksonville's progress in the past four decades in key areas including economic development, civil rights, the environment, education and public services; and to refocus attention on the ideals set forth by a group visionaries who, 40 years ago, set about the most pivotal change in Jacksonville's history.

Want to be involved? Producers of River City Rising are seeking like-minded corporate leaders, community stakeholders and others who recognize the potential of this program to foster effective review and dialog of Jacksonville's post-Consolidation progress. Partners are needed to help cover production and marketing costs, including costs involved with a VIP premier of the program prior to its first airing on WJCT. Donations of any amount are accepted and major sponsorships are available. All donations are tax deductible via our nonprofit fiscal partner the Southern Documentary Fund.
